• Building a Global Community of Trend Watchers

With the remake of GBLCG.com to a site where forward-thinking members can discuss ideas on how to make their businesses more competitive, we will now be looking for members who can feed their observations on how businesses change globally back to our community.

Attachment 110GBLCG.com is gradually growing into the community we wanted it to be when we established it. We wanted the site to remain different from most other business-focused sites.

To keep achieving this wanted to give members considerable degrees of control over how they wanted to interact with each other and with us.

Our thinking is that you, as member, should be able to raise your own topics for discussion, either to find answers to questions you may have, to put additional thinking behind business ideas or to provoke some ‘creative’ debates among the groups to which you belong.

To initiate what hopefully may become a first ‘wave’ of posts we are now looking for perceptive and open-minded people who can help us detect the first makings of trends. We envisage that together these members will create a global network of critical observers who exchange such observations through their GBLCG.com membership.

      Which Trends To Watch?

Obviously, the fast-changing and enormously diverse world in which we live already shows countless types of social movements that could potentially lead to a ‘trend’. It is not unlikely that a great number of posts could be written about each, which would invariably lead to GBLCG.com becoming a site with an almost endless number of small-scale discussion threads that don’t go very far eventually.

To avoid this, an approach must be developed – and we believe that our members can help us develop such an approach.

      GBLCG.com Trend Watch Forums

To give the development of such an approach its own structure we’re planning to publish a number of forums where members can discuss which trends should be observed, how these trends can be categorised best, and how discussions can be created around these trends. I will publish some ideas on what type of trends may be of interested in the next two weeks to kick-start that process.

      Trend Watching Is Voluntary

Obviously, we’re not referring to salaried or waged positions here. Instead, members become GBLCG.com Trend Watchers on a voluntary basis. If we do things ‘right’ we may see that the learning that comes from these exchanges and interactions will somehow fuel and accelerate the business building initiatives members are initiating themselves outside GBLCG.com.

In other words, trend watchers should expect that learning, as well as the development of meaningful relationships with other trend watchers, become the returns they receive on the investments they make in this collaboration.

      Selecting Trend Watchers

Although it would be easy for us to accept all responses we receive from candidates who want to become a GBLCG.com Trend Watcher we’re intending to be selective by applying a few basic criteria. We’ll publish these criteria before the end of September, 2011.

Irrespectively, if you feel you’ve got what it takes to operate as a GBLCG.com Trend Watcher and you are a GBLCG.com Registered Member, please don’t hesitate to post your expression of interest in the 'Building a Global Community of Trend Watchers - Expressions of Interest' forum.

Alternatively, if you are not a GBLCG.com Registered Member yet and would like to open your free-of-charge account, please continue to our Registration page.

Finally – I am really excited about this initiative and want to see it fly as soon as possible. To make that happen we will need to get a good number of forward-looking, innovative and inquisitive people together.

If you’re one of those people – don't hesitate and put your name in the the 'Building a Global Community of Trend Watchers - Expressions of Interest' forum now...
